THANK YOU- Governor Murphy for signing the New Jersey State fiscal year 2025 budget passed by the New Jersey Legislature that includes:
THANK YOU- Governor Murphy for signing the New Jersey State fiscal year 2025 budget passed by the New Jersey Legislature that includes:
- One billion dollar investment in New Jersey Transit. Public transportation has been woefully underfunded and neglected for far too long in the Garden State. As the most densely populated state in the nation, it’s common sense to invest in climate-friendly public transportation that expands equitable transportation options for all New Jersey residents.
- $60 million in funding for preservation and community hazardous spill cleanups, approximately $2.85 million annually for each county. The FY 2025 budget restores $48 million annually in preservation funding and $12 million in hazardous spill cleanup funding to communities. Funding for these programs was reduced by this amount in January 2024 when the Corporate Business Tax (CBT) surcharge expired. Better yet, the FY 2025 budget restores the funding retroactively to January 2024. The environmental program funding was restored by having the new Corporate Transit Free (CTF) implemented through the existing CBT. ANJEC, our partners at NJLCV, NJ Audubon, and others, worked together to request this funding mechanism and restoration of funds. As per the constitutional amendment approved by 66% of New Jersey voters in 2014, preservation and community hazardous cleanup programs are funded by 6% of the overall corporate business tax collected.
- $2.8 million in funding for the New Jersey School of Conservation (NJSOC). NJSOC is a gem of New Jersey’s parks and educational facilities. NJSOC is distinguished as our nation’s oldest, longest continuously operating outdoor education center. NJSOC serves schools in all 21 counties and provides educational programming for schools that meeting CORE curriculum standards for climate change education as well as fun and engaging public programs. ANJEC is a proud partner with NJSOC, and I serve as their volunteer board president.
Say NO to $10+ Billion in state funding for expanding the NJ Turnpike;
Say YES to more public transportation.
Sign- Resolution Opposing the Expansion of the NJ Turnpike
The Murphy Administration is proposing to spend $10 billion in state funds (at the last estimate) to expand one lane in areas of both north and south Jersey. The Jersey City Environmental Commission is strongly opposed to this, and we are asking for your help standing with them. We argue that these significant state resources should instead be spent on climate-friendly public transportation investments that make common sense in the most densely populated area of the most densely populated state. We ask that Environmental Commissions pass this resolution and then request that your governing body do the same. Send a copy to ANJEC at [email protected] once adopted.
You do not need to be located near the turnpike or public-transit area to benefit from passing this resolution. Our collective stance will create a healthier, better-connected NJ with more options for statewide mobility. This will create economic opportunities for all and mitigate damage already being done to vulnerable populations.

Find a Community Solar Project Near You
Community Solar Program allows those who rent, lack control of their roof, live in an apartment or multi-family building, or cannot afford the cost of a solar installation to benefit from the cost savings and reduced carbon footprint of solar power. The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) partnered with Sustainable Jersey to create the New Jersey Community Solar Project Finder. This online tool allows New Jersey residents to search by zip code for community solar projects serving their community. The tool also includes an overview of community solar and frequently asked questions.
Further information about community solar can be found in Sustainable Jersey’s community solar resources, including the Municipally Supported Community Solar action and the Sustainable Jersey Community Solar Guidebook for Municipalities.
